Weeknote 2026-W1 | '12 grapes under the table'

I’m not a new year resolutions person, but there have been some resolutions that I had which have nicely rolled over to 2026 and life just happens to be in the right spot for me to act on them. One such resolution was to setup and start writing my blog - thanks to IndieWebClub Blr for the inspiration and my neurons for the FOMO.

So this is my first post!

  • During the New Year’s Eve sesh, I played this fun word game called Undercover and discovered the apparently viral ‘12 grapes under the table’ ritual which is the social media version of a protest turned old spanish tradition (Twelve Grapes)
  • For the past two months, I’ve been obsessively working on an app for myself and this week was no different. It’s when I finished my Claude Code Max session limit with two hours to spare and not knowing what to do, that I decided to finish the blog setup and write this weeknote. I’m taking a mental note that this unintented slowdown and choosing to write has felt way better than I expected.
  • Some of the things I explored in tech this week are Domain Driven Design, Thin Events vs Thick Events, Event sourcing vs Event logging, generating Mermaid diagrams using Claude Code to understand proposed architecture changes by claude code. And in general getting interested in software archtecture. Found about the field of Software Archeology.
  • I’ve been wanting to switch my primary content consumption from video/audio to text since a few months and am in the process of fully setting up FreshRss to curate a reading list. I also intend to self-host Linkwarden or a similar software.
  • Read about the roots of the Indigo crisis - ‘Pan Ki Dukaan’ Governance
  • Finally spent time to understand how offshore and onshore winds affect surfing conditions, how wave intervals relate to the wave energy and now I have a better understanding of surf forecasts to pick the time to go surfing.

Intentions for next week:

  • Resume training for surfing
  • Contemplate on how much I want to share in weeknotes
  • Write the blog post on my Claude Code dev workflow
